Leeze Wheels

Care and Maintenance

There are a few general maintenance tasks you should perform to ensure that your Leeze wheels continue to look like the high-performance products they are.

Washing

Wash your rims, spokes, and hubs regularly with mild soap and water. A clean rim not only looks better, but it’s also easier to check for damage. Avoid using a pressure washer or directing a strong stream of water at the bearings and spoke nipples.

Service life

Store your wheels in a dry place. Let them dry after a wet ride and clean the end caps as needed. If the wheels have been stored for more than six months without the bearings moving, we recommend sending your wheel bearings to us for a us for a wheel check.

Center

During the truing process, our wheels are subjected to multiple stress tests. This exposes them to significantly greater stress than during normal riding. This ensures that you won’t need to have your wheels retrued. To guarantee perfect spoke tension and truing in the long term, we recommend having your wheels checked regularly. Depending on usage, this should be done after 5,000–10,000 km or 12–24 months, or even after 6 months of inactivity.

Tire Installation

As a last resort, use a plastic tire lever when mounting or removing tires. Never use metal levers, screwdrivers, kitchen knives, or any object other than a plastic tire lever.

CLEANING THE FREEWHEEL

To extend the life of your wheelset, you should regularly clean and regrease the freewheel system. To do this, remove the freewheel body—along with the cassette—from the hub axle. Clean both the pawl area and the front teeth with a cloth. Then grease both areas with fresh all-purpose or freewheel grease. Always make sure that the spacer remains installed between the hub and freehub bearings.

INSTALLATION OF THE CASSETTE

When installing the cassette, be sure to grease the freehub beforehand to prevent the sprockets from digging into the freehub’s end faces. Always tighten the cassette lockring to the torque specified in the manual.

Important information when using tubeless sealant

Tubeless Maintenance

When using tubeless tires, the sealant and rim tape should be replaced at least twice a year to prevent them from drying out. If maintenance is performed too infrequently, the chemical components in the sealant can cause irreparable damage to the spoke nipples, even if the rim tape is perfectly adhered. Please also follow the respective manufacturer’s instructions for the tires and sealant.
